Amoxicillin may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly. An allergic reaction to Amoxicillin is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing.
How To Use Amoxicillin:
Amoxicillin Tablets must be chewed thoroughly and followed by a full glass of water (8oz or 240ml). Take this medication as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. Amoxicillin may be taken with or without food. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take Amoxicillin at evenly spaced intervals.
Amoxicillin Precautions:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of blood disorders, kidney problems, or allergies to penicillin or other antibiotics. Before using Amoxicillin, tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Amoxicillin passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Amoxicillin Overdose:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
